A person's work environment influences feelings of job satisfaction or dissatisfaction and can directly affect hiring, staff retention, health, productivity, and absenteeism. The green building community is just beginning to have documented results for buildings that offer natural lighting, occupant control of air systems, privacy, and air quality.

A website that has extensive information on productivity, hiring, retention, etc. in relation to sustainable design. The field studies on this site are excellent examples to substantiate the human resources benefits of a green building.

Center for Built Environments
This organization offers a wide range of information on sustainable design techniques and building technologies and relates this information to occupant satisfaction. They also have an occupants survey program that is web-based and will determine what interior design features are working or not. This survey process can also be used to compare occupant satisfaction before and after renovations.
